How Native businesses build kinship

This workshop with Navajo entrepreneur, Germaine Simonson, will encourage and support participants who have a vision for what their home communities could look like. Explore how to shift to a mindset of possibility and learn how kinship is important in building ideas, growing businesses, and supporting each other. Germaine will share a survey with participants to gather information on what resources exist and what challenges persist. Then we'll discuss how Native people have always been business oriented and how our values and concepts might differ from our perception of "business" and "entrepreneurship." Kinship is vital to small business. In this unique workshop with an experienced and innovative Native entrepreneur, we'll discuss how our local Native businesses support our traditional Native values, strengthen our personal relationships, and create pathways to support our communities.
