The rise of small businesses: the critical role of Navajo and Hopi entrepreneurs in the COVID-19 relief effort

Our workshop series on Indigenous leadership continues with Navajo entrepreneur, Vanessa Tullie.

Vanessa is the CEO and Manager of Ahehee' Shidine'e Homecare LLC and the co-founder for the Navajo & Hopi Families COVID-19 Relief Fund. Through her leadership with the Relief Fund, a vast team of volunteers established a network of distribution sites, coordinated food deliveries, and health & safety training all across Navajo communities in NM within a few weeks. From her office, Vanessa actively collected and distributed supplies and sewed face masks during the pandemic. The relief effort was one of the most tightly coordinated and community-led efforts in Navajo history. Learn how they did it, and the critical role of entrepreneurs in supporting communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
