Art Be Smart: Intellectual Property and the Indian Arts & Crafts Act for Artists

The doors are opening! We welcome you to join us for this in-person program on the Indian Arts and Crafts Act (IACA) and on intellectual property for artists and craftspeople. The event will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the University of New Mexico – Gallup Campus.

TRAINING OVERVIEW

Our speakers will be Ken Van Wey, Program Analyst, with the Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB) of the U.S. Department of the Interior, and Susan Anthony, Tribal Affairs Liaison and Senior Trademark Attorney, with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Ken and Susan have presented together over the years at many programs for artists and craftspeople and are delighted to offer this unique opportunity in Gallup, New Mexico. Ken will speak about the IACA, including possible changes on the horizon, and Susan will speak about intellectual property, with a particular focus on copyright, trademarks, and design patents.
